On Saturday I turned 30. It hasn’t been something that I’ve been looking forward to despite everyone efforts to tell me that “30 is the new 20” and it will be “the best years of my life”. Since I hadn’t been all that thrilled about truing the big 3-0, Matt decided to throw me a huge birthday bash to celebrate. So last weekend on the 12th he threw together the best Friends themed birthday party I could have ever imagined! It was something I adored like I do to my picture necklace! Friends has been my favorite TV show of all time, so much so I always laugh or cry before the moment actually happens; I know it all too well. So he thought the best way to celebrate was to throw a party for “The One Where Sam Turns 30”. I was beyond impressed! I did help decorate some but all of the ideas were his! He even contacted a super talented cake artist, Wow Factor Cakes, here in Charlotte to make my cake! He though of everything! He had some themed food like Phoebe’s cookies (The One with Phoebe’s Cookies), a mini cheesecake (The One With All The Cheesecakes), sandwiches, lasagna (The One With Dozen Lasagnas), even wine from Paul the wine guy! The signature drink was a punch that he cleverly named Punch’ed to reference “The One With The Girl Who Hits Joey”! For any of our friends who have never watched the show, the theme was definitely lost on them, but for the ones who love it as much as I do, they definitely appreciated all of the references! One of my favorite moments was when Churro came down the stairs after everyone had arrived, as my lobster! He didn’t love his costume, but everyone else did! It was definitely a great party and helped me be a bit more ready and excited to turn 30. So cheers to 30!
