My husband Lee surprised me on Valentines day one year with an amazing ski trip weekend to Purgatory ski resort when we lived in CO! He surprised me by renting my skis and leaving me a note attached to them. We spent one night at an amazing hotel and ate at an amazing restaurant. We got dessert, wine, and I ordered salmon as my entree! We had a great weekend and I will always remember that Valentines day!! Sharing on Facebook!!

I am very fortunate to have spent last Valentine’s Day with the most incredible guy. After the snow hit last year, a couple days before Valentine’s Day we weren’t even sure we were going to be able to spend the day together. On Valentine’s Day he showed up while I was away at work, an hid a scavenger hunt for me. It doesn’t hurt he cooked a delicious dinner as well. I feel so lucky to have such a thoughtful and kind person in my life.

My favorite Valentines Day memory was when I surprised my girlfriend with a trip to go swim with the sharks in the Georgia Aquarium! We are both adventure seekers and lovers of living life. Swimming with the majestic sharks was one of the things she wanted to do on her bucket list. So I told her to pack a bag with her bathing suit and we’re taking a spontanious trip. Few hours later we were swimming right next to a 40 foot whale shark. Sounds crazy, but I’m crazy about her.

My favorite Valentines Day memory will be the one to come this weekend! My fiancé and I will be celebrating Valentine’s Day and Mardi Gras with a large group of friends and family by attending the St. Louis Mardi Gras parade followed by traditional dishes at our friend’s home. After the party we have made reservations at a restaurant that we haven’t yet tried out. We plan to explore the city the entire night and try out as many new things as possible. This will be the first Valentine’s Day that we are able to set aside work/school responsibilities and fully focus on one another!

Nick and I had a rough time a few years into our relationship where he was laid off of work, but we made it through. He was home during the days while I was at work, and of course, I had to work on Valentine’s Day. I kept getting cryptic messages throughout the day about where in this and where is that in the kitchen, and how do you spell Giada. I figured he was attempting to cook. Now, anyone who knows Nick knows this is no small task. He tries, but he is better off allowing someone else to do the cooking. I got home and the kitchen was a disaster, but he had made the perfect meal. He chose to make cheese manicotti with homemade sauce…which is NOT something easy. It was yummy and we laughed at the huge mess to clean up, but it’s something I’ll always remember.

I’ve been dating Ben for about 4 years, and we have been engaged since December 2013. The first Valentine’s Day, he made me a picture album of all our day trips and mini vay-cays that we had taken the previous year. We ate dinner somewhere, and went to Amelie’s for coffee for 5 hours. This was followed by a set glittery, pink plastic bowls and plates (which led him to asking me to move in with him.) One year we went to Bonterra Dining Room and stayed in a fancy hotel in Uptown. Last year, we lived in Maryland and were so busy the week of the 14th that we went to Waffle House at 2 am and ate hash browns together and looked at wedding venues.

Since February 1st, I keep coming in from work to find different little treats waiting for me on the kitchen counter. A little box of chocolates, or a candle lit dinner, or a vintage valentine card from 1959 in mint condition. There is a box of cupcakes arriving on my doorstep tomorrow (Ben is REALLY bad at keeping secrets!)

Truthfully, we both are going to be working on the 14th so we probably will eat Waffle House again, which is cool with me because I love hash browns. And I love drinking coffee with Ben. I, however, have not been leaving little tokens of affection throughout the house (although I did buy him some cinnabuns while I was grocery shopping last night.) I have been lying to him for the last 2 weeks about what my plans are. I’ve told him that I’m going to have a mariachi band ambush him at work (he begged me not to), that we are going zip lining in the mountains in a few weeks, and that I signed us up for a wilderness survival course. I’m not sure if he believes me, or thinks I just spend too much time on Groupon.

The reality is that in my closet, I have a vintage train case filled with a speedo, sunblock, margarita mix, a snorkeling set and 2 tickets for a 5 day cruise to the Bahamas (but I’m still considering the Mariachi band.)

    When should I tell him?

ps: liked, liked, and shared on Facebook <3

Mine is a bit unconventional but will always be my favorite Valentine’s memory because it was the start of, we’ll, of the rest of my life. I had been somewhat seeing my manager at work for about a month, a big no no, and Valentine’s was one of our first dates. I never met someone with so many similar tastes and who made me laugh so much. Neither of us had plans to make it an official relationship though, but the universe had other plans. 9 months later we had a son, soon we were married, and then added a daughter. 5 years in and that was our first and only valentine’s we got to have without kids.

  14. Allison webb says:

We went for a beautiful walk with our three month old son. It was fun!

This Valentines will probably be my favorite yet. I found out Tuesday, that after trying for a while, we are finally expecting. (Hence the anonymous) I decided to wait until Valentines Day to tell my husband, it’s been so hard to keep it to myself but I think it’ll be worth it. So there will definitely be some things coming up worth taking photos of. Can’t wait to tell him!

  16. Eboni M. says:

Valentines Day 2014 I wanted to do something different than our 1st Vday. On our 1st Vday we went out to dinner. I RARELY (hardly ever) cook for my honey, so I thought, what better way to spend our 2nd Valentines than me cooking a nice homecooked meal! He loves lamb chops but I had never cooked them so I googled how to marinate and grill it! I paired it with broccoli and cheese, rice pilaf and dinner rolls! I put out candles, had his fav wine and even ordered a nice dessert! He loved it because I stepped out of my comfort zone and made it special!

  17. Jamie W says:

Every year I get to spend with my husband is special to me and every Valentine’s Day is a great reminder of all that he is and how lucky I am to have him.
